Mike Rathmell

Mike completed his A levels at Ilkley Grammar School and after some time spent travelling came back to the Wharfe valley where he began his apprenticeship in Bench Joinery and Cabinetmaking. Mike studied and worked closely alongside a set of skilled craftsmen. The work he undertook was a mixture of contemporary and traditional furniture making whilst also learning the art of furniture restoration. After five years and a completed apprenticeship Mike became workshop foreman before leaving to start his own venture, Wharfe and Moor.

After finishing his GCSE’s at Ilkley Grammar school Fred took up a plumbing apprenticeship with a local firm, with over 10 years experience working through his career to become a highly esteemed bathroom fitter, working alongside some of the premier interior companies in the area has allowed Fred to hone his installation skills and earn a keen eye for detail. Along this journey Fred has also become a fully qualified Gas safe engineer.
